The Garmin Alpha 300 paired with the Alpha T20 tracking-only collar, the complete system for hunters who want the most capable Alpha handheld with a streamlined collar at a lower price point than the TT25 bundle. Tracking-only; does not include e-collar training capability.
The Alpha 300 is Garmin’s most advanced dog tracking handheld. The T20 is the tracking-only collar built for dogs that don’t need e-collar correction. Together they’re the most capable pure-tracking system Garmin makes but at a lower price point than the Alpha 300 + TT25 bundle since you’re not paying for training hardware you won’t use.
The Alpha 300 brings Garmin’s largest dog tracking display, a 4-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen, combined with a 40-hour battery life, top-button touchscreen-free operation for quick training adjustments, compatibility with Outdoor Maps+ subscription mapping, and support for up to 20 active dogs with 2.5-second updates out to 9 miles. It’s the handheld that serious multi-dog hunters and houndsmen running big country build their system around.
The Alpha T20 runs the same modular platform as the TT25; same flex bands, same Extended Life Battery Pack upgrade path, same 7-color LED lights, but built purely for tracking. Dynamic tracking adjusts the GPS update rate based on your dog’s movement, extending battery life to 68 hours on the standard pack and 136 hours with the Extended Life Battery (sold separately).
Who this system is for: Hunters running seasoned dogs that don’t need stimulation correction; pointing breeds, retrievers, coonhounds, and versatile dogs where the relationship is built on trust, not the collar. It also makes sense as a second or third collar in a mixed system: run a TT25 on young dogs still in training, and T20s on your finished dogs. Full visibility on every dog, no wasted hardware cost.
Ready to add more dogs later? The Alpha 300 tracks up to 20 collars simultaneously and stores 250 inactive dogs. Add T20s or TT25s at any time without replacing the handheld.
Pair the Alpha 300 with a Garmin fēnix 8 or Instinct 3 watch via Broadcast Mode for wrist-based dog tracking.
Our take: If you’re building a new system around tracking-focused dogs and want the top-end handheld without the premium of the TT25 bundle, this is the configuration. The Alpha 300 is the best handheld Garmin makes; the T20 is the cleanest collar for dogs that are past the training phase. It’s a serious setup.
