Worn or missing contact points are the most common reason a Garmin e-collar stops delivering. This kit includes short probes, long probes, and the installation wrench. Everything needed to restore full function in under five minutes.
The contact points on your Garmin e-collar work harder than any other part of the system. Pressed against your dog’s skin through wet grass, creek crossings, and heavy brush, day after day. Eventually they wear down, corrode, or disappear into a field somewhere. When they do, your collar stops working. Not because something broke, but because a $15 part needs replacing.
Keep a spare set in your vest. Keep one in the truck. This is the one accessory every hunting dog owner should have in the bag before the season starts.
The Garmin Contact Points Kit includes both short and long stainless steel probes plus the installation wrench. Short probes are what ships installed on every new Garmin training collar, they work for most dogs in most conditions. Long probes are for thick-coated breeds: labs, setters, spaniels, wirehairs, and any dog where standard probes struggle to maintain consistent skin contact through heavy fur. If your collar has ever seemed inconsistent, swapping to long probes typically solves it immediately.
Installation takes under five minutes on any TT25, TT15, TT15X, TT10, PT10, or Sport Pro collar. Loosen the existing probes with the included wrench, thread in the replacements by hand, snug them down. Both probes need to be installed and making skin contact for the collar to deliver — the circuit requires contact on both sides.
Check your probes at the start of every season. If the tips look flattened, pitted, or corroded, swap them before the first morning afield, not after your dog blows through a point and you wonder why the collar didn’t do its job.
