The Dakota 283 CRaTE (Canine Rough and Tough Economy) is a one-piece roto-molded hunting dog kennel built for everyday use in the truck, at hunt tests, and in the field. It costs less than the G3. It does not do less.
Single-piece construction means no joints to crack, no seams to fail. The door latches securely. Integrated side handles make loading and unloading manageable. Large ventilation holes keep airflow moving. Smooth interior surfaces and a drain hole make cleanup fast after a muddy day in the field.
The CRaTE uses a standard door latch rather than the keyed paddle latch on the G3, and it comes in fewer color options. That is the trade. If either of those matter to you, look at the Dakota 283 G3. If you want a quality kennel that does its job without the premium price, the CRaTE is worth considering.
